1- Negative thoughts sap our energy
2- Sugar can cause depression
3- How to help 1 and 2
Not so long ago I felt a little stressed and overwhelmed. I decided to go for a long run, to allow the feeling to pass, but I forgot to leave my 'negative thinking cap' at home. I progressively felt more and more drained, to the point I that I even felt breathless. I had a rest and tried my luck at running again 10 min later ... however it didn't work, so I continued walking wearily home.
While walking my negative and stressful thoughts had even more " space " to fester and make themselves at home. Not only did I now feel really angry, but also frustrated at not being able to run.
My next move was my best one, I sat down under a beautiful tree and just started to enjoy the surroundings. Feeling a little 'lighter' I then allowed one negative thought after another to emerge so that I could deal with it.
Although there were numerous weighty thoughts, I just looked at them put them in a category and dealt with one category at a time .
When finally I was done and nothing was bothering me anymore, I was ready to continue walking home. AND my energy was back and I could actually continue running again.
1- Over a period of time I observed how negativity can drain you to the point that you just want to hop into bed and not do anything but forget about the world - how to speak! Why do I write about now ?
While working in my practice with depression, I saw the recurrent need to find explanations and solutions for those in need.
I know from personal experience, if I can explain it is half as bad. And once I have a solution, I can handle it .
So if you feel down or negative , or are stressed, that is ok !!! It is ok to accept that not every day is a "sunny day".
Go for a walk and acknowledge your surroundings. Take time to bring the negative thoughts out, categorize them and deal with them, one at a time!
If you allow negativity and stress to rule your day, you won't achieve anything!!!
2- Food can be another realy draining reason, not only do unhealthy fats make us lazy and tired but my experience with sugar is so remarkable that I need to share it with you to help.
I will share another story , my youngest son is 14 and like every other child he loves sugar, lollies chocolate etc.
On the first day of the holidays he met with his friends and as they are all excited, they stock themselves up with lots of goodies (chocolate , biscuits, etc) on the beach. The next morning he woke up with a little headache and a bit moody.
I went to work and when I returned that afternoon, my boy was moaning and groaning about everything and nothing in particular.
He and his friends had planned a further trip to the movies the next day, and we all know that delightful sweets are a vital just part of this outing. When I picked him up he looked tired, very pale and my thought was that he had not enjoyed the film.
The next morning, is one I will never forget. My son not was not only not talking, but he was in his bed in the dark not moving , When I asked what was wrong he would not respond, he just stared at the ceiling in his room and looked absolutely " empty ".
I knew what I had to do. I dragged him out of bed , made him drink litres of fresh filtered water, gave him a detox with the bio-cleanse machine (a blessing that I have one in my clinic), gave him fresh fruits and in the early afternoon he started coming to life and being less lethargic. I let him sleep close to me and didn't let him out of my sight, till he started responding the next morning.
He himself said that was like a very bad dream, where you just want to wake up but you can't!
And wether or not I thought my child knew about good and bad foods or not, he was not aware of his reactions to it and by the 3rd day of sugar, not able to make good decisions.
He learnt what his body can take and I do not have to worry about him again - but, he learned it the hard way.
Not all of us have such a sensitive response, some of us just have a monthly sugar fix and are not tempted to eat more. But many people cannot stop! Not only is sugar feeding more and more parasites into your body, which cause bloating, mood swings, depression, but it and can drastically feed cancerous cells .
We all like to have a little treat, keep it as a treat!
- get a regular detox , I love doing infra red sauna, and bio cleanses and reflexology (Google these to find out more)
- eat fresh foods.
- fewer carbs at night for a good night sleep
- drink plenty of fresh water during the day
- Not to many coffes or other stimulants
- keep active
If your body is "clean", the liver and digestive system work properly, your brain function is better, you make better decisions.
A well oxygenated body has healthy cells and cannot harbour dread diseases.
Let's welcome menopause with a smile
It’s time to welcome menopause with a smile! Approaching menopause is not easy. I know as I’m going through it right now. The hot flushes, coupled with the typical fears of saggy boobs, memory loss and ‘middle-aged spread’ have been wreaking havoc on my mind lately. I had a moment the other night while I was apologizing to my daughter’s new boyfriend at the...
